We were so "egg"cited to get our chick eggs this Tuesday morning. They are warm and cozy in our class incubator for the next few weeks. We have been learning daily what the chicks look like inside the eggs and have been recording in our chick journals what is happening to the eggs. We completed an egg art diagram picture and created a chick life cycle page. We also watched a Mystery Doug Science video.
The kids continued learning about time and practicing math facts and experiences in Everyday Math lessons and centers. We will finish up Unit 6 next week. Next week we will be taking a Cumulative Test, Unit 6 Post Test, and Unit 7 Pre-test.
Students completed Scholastic News magazines and learned about teeth, treating others kindly, United States symbols, and Dr. Seuss. The children were taught about different types of maps and how to read a map key. We learned about the feeling of surprise in our Second Step lesson.
The students worked on letter sounds, forming words and sentences, reading, and writing experiences and practice during Heggerty, Fundations, Teacher Led Reading, reading A.R. books, taking A.R. quizzes, and Guided Reading Centers. We practiced sight words, took STAR Reading, and took STAR Math tests to check progress.
Have a great weekend and week ahead! Next Friday, March 8th the children will be getting released from school at 11:30 a.m. (Walkers) and 11:45 a.m. (Bus Riders). Teachers will be having Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences on an "as needed" basis with students' parents in the afternoon of March 8th. Take Care, Mrs. Z
