Happy Sunday! I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend! :) This past week the children worked on their Everyday Math, Rocket Math (Addition - Levels A and B), Heggerty (letter sounds and words), Calkins (Writing), Fundations (letters, sounds, and words), Sight Words, Teacher Led Reading, Calendar Time, Guided Reading Centers, Leader in Me and Second Step, Social Studies, Library (books are due back this Tuesday), Art, P.E., and Music.
We worked on counting up and down by 1s, using a number line and tally marks, recognizing and writing numbers, counting by 1s and 5s, counted how many days we have been in school, simple addition problems, and counting as high as we can go individually and as a class. We practiced writing letters, simple words, and sentences. We practiced being read to and answering questions about the stories, reading stories in our reading groups, completing reading activities (making short "A" and short "I" books), reading "A" and "I" stories, playing vowel and word bingo games, rolling letter dice and creating real and nonsense words on dry erase boards, using letter tiles / scrabble pieces / letter magnets / dry erase markers / dry erase boards to create words, reading classroom books, and tracing / writing our ABCs on small erasable cards.
We continued to talk about being Proactive, being good listeners, being kind to one another, treating others the way we would like to be treated, doing our best work, helping others, focusing, and being good learners. We figured out the day of the week and month, the weather, watered our class plants, were responsible and took care of our classroom by being classroom helpers, and continued practicing making good choices for ourselves.
