Hello there! I hope this finds you all having a great week and a wonderful Labor Day weekend! The kids have been working so hard.
This week we had Calendar Time, said the Pledge, took attendance and lunch count, went to the library and learned library rules, filled in our 100s Chart, practiced letters and letter sounds, utilized Math counters in a counting game, participated in counting on and counting down activities in Math, and we continued to count by 1s and 5s. The children began brainstorming and writing stories in our spiral notebooks, went over ways to be good leaders and how to follow directions and listen in "Leader in Me" and "Second Step," we formed compound words and segmented words, completed an activity on feelings, and we created an "All About Me" page that we hung up in the hallway.
The First Graders completed their STAR Reading, STAR Math, Rocket Math, and Fountas and Pinnell testing. Students used their chrome books to play "ABC Ya" and "RAZ Kids" (each child received a ticket that he or she took home in their yellow folder to do "RAZ Kids" at home for extra reading and comprehension practice). The students had Computers, Art, Music, P.E., Recess and Lunch. As a class and individually, we practiced reading and wrote a class story together. I hope you all have a fun and relaxing three-day weekend! Mrs. Zimmermann
The students and I have been spending the first seven days of school getting to know one another, learning routines and rules, starting academics, and attending specials. Each week, I will be adding information to our class blog to let families know information about what we're working on in the classroom and any important upcoming class events. Have a great weekend! Take Care, Mrs. Julie Zimmermann
