I hope this finds you all doing well. We continue to work on our letters, letter sounds, forming words, and writing sentences correctly in Heggerty and Fundations. In Teacher Led Reading, I am reading the students the biography, Who Was Walt Disney? Students have been working on writing about butterflies and creating a butterfly picture and a written description of what they would do if they were a butterfly; that will hang up in the hallway next week. The kids continue to practice their reading skills, vocabulary building, and word practice daily in Guided Reading Centers.
In Math, we are working on shapes, telling time, and number models. Students are working on their narrative writing skills and working towards their individual writing goals. We learned about animal camouflage in the environment and about other living plants and animals in our world in Science. We finished up our last lesson in our "Geography" unit. We learned more about the town, state, country, continent, and planet we live on in Social Studies. We read about and took part in activities that practiced the Seventh Habit, "Sharpening the Saw" in "Leader in Me." Mrs. Arms came and taught the students a social lesson on items we can and cannot control.
Have a great week! Mrs. Zimmermann
